Water For All – Step Five - Impact

THE LONG WAIT OF LUAU INHABITANTS FOR POTABLE WATER

“The life of the populations … has from now on a new horizon. After years without water for consumption and having to take long walks to the rivers to get the precious liquid, at a glance, their dream becomes a reality with the inauguration of five catchment and distribution systems of drinking water within the framework of the "Water for All" program.

Fernanda Dina, 48 years old, is one of the villagers of Sacatombe. When she saw the delegation …, arrive at the site to cut the tape of one of the projects inaugurated under the "Water for All" program, she did not hold back and cheered like the other women in the village. That day was the end of a long life of trips to the river to bring water …. Since the country became independent these villages have never benefited from potable water …

"I'm satisfied because we have not had water for a long time. I am happy to see this laundry being inaugurated", she said, adding, "Life here, without water, was difficult". "We had to walk many miles to fetch water from the Goane River", she told ….”
